The Purchasing Department produced this manual to assist you with your office furniture requirements. We carefully reviewed and updated each standard to assure you of exceptional quality and style while ensuring functionality and efficient use of funds. The Vice President of Facilities, John T. Clapacs, and the Chancellors of each IU campus approved the guidelines. The University Director of Purchasing is responsible for the implementation of these guidelines. To ensure compliance with applicable fire, safety, and ADA code requirements, all public area furniture including; interior accessories, window treatments, wall treatments and flooring must be specified through the Office of the University Architect or the Purchasing Services Department. Exceptions to these guidelines must be approved by the appropriate Vice President or Chancellor. Manufacturers' specifications are used to establish a standard of quality in materials, construction and price point and are not intended to be restrictive. Alternative manufacturers' products may be considered if they meet the minimum guidelines. All office furniture purchases must specify the manufacturer's standard finishes and fabrics. Items considered personal in nature may not be purchased with University funds. All items purchased through the University are the property of the University and must remain in a University facility. Interior design services are available upon request. The Purchasing Department and the Office of the University Architect must coordinate the services of any outside interior designer.
Following these procedures will help insure orders are entered and delivered correctly and on time.
