Supplier Diversity & Business Development Plan
Vision and Focus:
To support and strengthen IUPUI as one of the premier urban universities in the nation through good business partnerships.
That fostering and promoting participation and growth of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises "DBE's" supports this vision.
Commitment:
We fundamentally believe that good business partnerships are one of our best assets in supporting IUPUI as “The Premier Urban University in the Nation.” That diversity among our suppliers supports this belief.
One of our goals is to provide DBE's with every opportunity to contribute to their fullest potential in supporting IUPUI's organizational goals.

Promote Supplier Diversity:
Focus on increasing the visibility of the Supplier Diversity Program within IUPUI and with our other supply and service providers.
Increase the visibility of the program on a national, state and local level through participation, networking activities and corporate membership.

Supplier Base Integration:
- Enhance the supplier base for Purchasing Managers and department requestors.
- Increase the number of minority owned businesses in the master supplier base.
Maximize Procurement Opportunities For DBE'S:
- Ensure that the IUPUI supplier base is represented by a diverse group of suppliers.
- Be an advocate for DBE's to the University Community.
- Host Open Houses to showcase DBE's to campus users.
- Promote and enhance the IUPUI Second Tier Sourcing Program (i.e. first tier suppliers build their own supplier diversity programs/initiatives) thereby fostering DBE growth throughout the IUPUI supplier base and allowing for reciprocal procurement opportunities through the tier one supply base.
Evaluation & Assessment:
To maintain a process which ensures ongoing evaluation and assessment of the Supplier Diversity Program.
- To continue to satisfy customers requirements for supplier diversity.
- To communicate actual expenditures to internal sources to ensure supplier diversity integration into the procurement process.
- Monitor the DBE plan and goals on a monthly basis.
- To continue to develop and enhance our DBE plan and goals to ensure continued growth of the Supplier Diversity Program.
- To maximize the effectiveness and growth of the second Tier Sourcing Program.
